Have you tried the FULLSCREEN effect of the picture layer? You can select this with the 2nd dropdown below the text box.

Another option is to use the 3D IN BACKGROUND effect and copy the ROTATION property of the camera layer. This effectively makes your layer 2D. This trick can be useful when you don't use wild camera movements.

Maybe it works setting the red picture to CYLINDER/3D IN BACKGROUND mode, making it very big and placing it at the camera position.
