NextPreviousHomeInsert layer?

I am just learning this software. I created about 9 layers and when I added a text layer it shows the for the whole show. I thought if I created a key, it would be like starting a new paragraph. So my issue is understanding how to add text at a point in time and not for the whole show.
I have a ways to go to learn this and have checked search for answers but would appreciate someone just putting this in a simple perspective for me.

You can make a text appear in the middle of a show by creating 2 keyframes.

For the 1st key, place the text at an invisible position, for example behind the camera.

For the 2nd key place the text at a visible position.

You can move a text with the TEXT POSITION property.

You can select the TEXT POSITION property with the dropdown above the 3 sliders.

After selecting this property you can change it with the 3 sliders.

When the 1st key is placed at 3 seconds from the start of the show and the 2nd at 4 seconds your text appears between 3 and 4 seconds.

How do I insert a key and a layer behind the camera or even in between layers?

2da4est, 10 years ago

"Behind the camera" has to do with positions.

Your camera has a position and your text has a position. You can place your text behind the camera by changing its position.

You can do this with the TEXT POSITION property.

Lets say I don't want any animation. So I select no animation.
I create a key in time.
I create a layer.
Why do I still have to see the previous layers? How to I blank out the previous words without the animation?
I am sorry, I just not getting something.
Do I have to create 2 layers for each line of text? One visable and one not?

Yes you have to create 2 text layers.

and can I insert them some how?

Another option is to use the WRITER property.

This way you only need a single text layer.

Enter a long text and play around with this property.

You can insert a new text layer by choosing LAYER > ADD LAYER > ADD TEXT LAYER...

That just add the layer to the end. I will start over. But at this point all my layers are visable even though I created layers behind the view and all my text is overtop of all the other text.

It's impossible to "create a layer behind the view".

All text layers are created at the very same position.

You can only move them behind the view *AFTER* you have created them.

Is there a tutorial on how to create a show with different texts?

2da4est, 10 years ago

Here's a show with multiple texts showing how to make text appear and disappear using the TRANSARENCY value.

Hope that helps you.
