Hi,

I'm the creator of BluffTitler's Bix and EZ characters, and Michiel asked me to tell something about exporting 3D content from Blender to BT.

It's actually quite simple:

1: Start Blender ( it's a free download: blender.org )

2: Go to File menu ➔ User Preferences...

3: Activate the Addons tab, and type "directx" in the search field. The addons list will auto-update to show the DirectX X format import-export addon.

4: Activate the addon by checking the checkbox. If you import / export DirectX more often, you can choose to save the preferences, so the addon is enabled by default.

Be careful though, if you save the preferences in the middle of a session (in stead of after starting Blender), all settings and scene objects will be saved along and will become your default startup scene.

5: Now you can export a selected object from your scene as a DirectX (.x) file by going to File menu ➔ Export.

6: When the file export windows appears, you can find a range of options in the left side column. The default settings should be fine, but if you've used modifiers on your object, check 'Apply Modifiers'.

7: Import the .x file into BT.

Good luck and best regards from the Netherlands,

Hi Snafu,

I used these steps to export BluffTitler's EZ character to BT. I think the best thing to do is to try and follow my instructions. If questions arise, just let me know.

Good luck,

Metin

Very nice.
I am also using blender for physics animations and games.

So: Is it possible to import every object created in blender into BluffTitler?
Is there a limit because of RealTimeEditing?

Thanks,
John

Hi John,

There is indeed a limit regarding poly count. Not so much in the .x file format, but in what can be handled in realtime wtihout too much slowing down.

I guess Michiel can tell you more about this, as I first sent him a model with a gargantuous amount of polygons. ☺
