BluffTitler Version 8.0 is ready for download!
The new features include:
-playlists
-lens flare layers
-lightning layers
-SDI output (key,fill and ref)
Many small improvements make a huge difference:
-video layer is updated when the timeslider is moved
-new settings dialog with lots of options including the possibility to add a - sign to non-default properties
-new text layer tags (like <fullday />)
-new menu item: FILE > EXPORT AS TEMPLATE... that will make uploading templates to this gallery much easier
-the possibility to attach a texture to a light layer: light flares!
-support for IE proxy settings
-...
But the biggest new thing is the introduction of 3 versions:
-EASY
-PRO
-iTV
We have postponed this for years, trying to keep everybody happy with the very same version. After 6 years of development we concluded that this is no longer possible. The diversity of the BluffTitler userbase is simply too wide. With the introduction of the EASY, PRO and iTV versions we are now able to offer the ultimate video effects application for both the hobby and the professional world!
There is much to say about version 8. Let me give you some tips and links to start exploring the new version yourself, one per comment:
The full list of new features can be found in the program history:

I got problems when upgrading to 8 PRO.
1. BT is running in DEMO mode even if I wrote in the new keys. The old 7.6.5 (that I moved to another partition in case something freaked out) is also now in DEMO mode.
2. When I try to go to full screen BT crashes all the time.
Please advise!

I've double checked your license keys and they work perfectly!
Here are some things that might have gone wrong:
-keys are case sensitive, so 'A' is not the same as 'a'
-do not add spaces at the end and the beginning of the keys
A good trick is to ask somebody else to enter your keys. For some reason it's impossible to see typing errors after staring at the same three words for longer than 10 seconds.
Please contact me by e-mail if you still have problems entering your license keys.
Sorry to hear that BluffTitler crashes on your computer. But don't worry, in our experience it's possible to fix all stability problems by performing the following steps:

Download/installation and upgrade to Pro all worked flawlessly for my machine.......hope Wowbagger gets things sorted out quickly 'cause there's lots of goodies to found in this upgrade.....real nice job, Michiel!
All success!,

Michiel, Can you confirm what I think I'm reading. From what I gather, my current version 7.6.5 would equate to the PRO version in V8 minus any new features. The free "upgrade" to V8 Easy is really a "downgrade" in capabilities? For a current user who wants to keep up with the latest version and not lose the capabilities he already has, he really needs to buy the PRO version, right?
Without doing a lot of analysis it's hard to tell if any of the new features come with the Easy version - the two most exciting new features "Lightning" and "Lens Flare" appear to be reduced to the point where they're really just demos.
I hope I don't come across the wrong way - I'm all for you making a buck and you've provided many great updates for free already. But I really don't see how this free option could be called an upgrade. Users who don't pay attention may find themselves disappointed when they discover all the features they lost.
Final thought, will all future Dpacks require V8? My guess is yes they probably should take full advantage of the new features. So my suggestion after all this rambling might be to reword your download page to make it clear that the correct upgrade path for current users is to the PRO version.

I agree with JimH. Your download is really a downgrade. A little warning would have been useful.

Another observation: When a V7 user enters his license keys he's told he has the EASY version. This is also misleading.

The loss of character rotation in the upgrade is not good.
Why do we lose this feature?
The lightning layer is not in my easy version as far as I can tell.

When moving from version 7.6.5 to 8.0 EASY you lose some and you gain some. That is the logical consequence of moving from a single version system to a system with an EASY, PRO and iTV version.
For example the text layer in the EASY version no longer features a FLEXIBILITY property. Lots of users have problems understanding this property so we moved it to the PRO version.
Some users will miss this property and will stick to the old version or upgrade to the PRO version.
Other users will be happy that they no longer have to worry about this incomprehensible property.
Please understand that upgrading is voluntary and not required to continue using the version of the software that you have purchased. If you want you can download version 7.6.5 (the last release before 8.0) here:

Thank You for the advanced time tags in the text layer, and maximum show duration increased from 3 to 60 minutes...
Love this new version :-)

Finally got time to update and the process was painless.
Now to wrap my brain around the new features.

I advise you to try the demo version before ordering. The purpose of the demo, or evaluation version is for you to find out if the program meets your requirements.
You can download the demo here:

Michiel, I've loved this software (and both DPacks) and have suggested it in several forums. However, I have to say it's offputting to buy something and then a few months later find that I actually lose features if I update, or I can pay the difference (no benefit to being an existing owner) to gain those features back.
My other favorite products are Sony Vegas Pro and MemoriesOnTV Pro. Both of those offer far better upgrade paths. One, you never lose features; and two, existing owners receive great discounts to upgrade.
I may or may not like the new features, I have no idea yet, but either way, I think this should have been handled better.
Yes, you offer a discount on the DPacks, but what about those of us who have already bought both? We're the most loyal customers, and yet we're left out.

Michiel, I can see I'm not the only one confused here. On your Versions page, can you also indicate what features are gained and lost between 7.6.5 and 8.0 Easy?
I've uninstalled 8 and will use 7.6.5 for now and hope that doesn't preclude me using any future DPacks. It's hard to identify what exactly we gain by going to 8.0 Easy.
Thanks.
