File > Save Show + All Media files...

File > Export as Picture...

File > Export as Movie...

Exports the animation as an .AVI file. A dialog will be presented to select the desired compression technique. You have the following options:

  • Uncompressed AVI
  • Uncompressed AVI with transparency
  • Compressed AVI
Microsoft Video 1 works very good, creating AVI files about 18 times smaller than uncompressed files. If everything fails, choose full frames(uncompressed).
  • Numbered TARGA frames
  • TARGA frames with Transparency

On this page you can find more info about importing BluffTitler generated animations into other software.

Please note that BluffTitler is a visual effects program. It does not export audio.

Layer > Delete all attached Layers

Deletes all layers attached to the active layer.

Layer > Delete active Layer

Deletes the active layer. All attached layers will also be deleted. Since you need a camera layer to see something it is impossible to delete the camera layer. Also be careful not to delete all light layers, unless you love the dark.

Layer > Clone active Layer

Makes an identical copy of the active layer.

Layer > Reverse active Layer

Reverses the active layer.

Layer > Bring active Layer Backward

Brings the active layer backward. Notice that this only makes sense for picture layers in 2D mode. All other layers are automatically sorted by their distance to the camera.

Layer > Bring active Layer Forward

Brings the active layer forward. Notice that this only makes sense for picture layers in 2D mode. All other layers are automatically sorted by their distance to the camera.

Layer > Active Layer Properties

Opens a dialog where you can enter the layer name and link.

Media menu

Media > Change Text...

Changes the text of the text layer. Most of the time you will use the textbox on the tool window for this, but for long texts or when using dynamic content this dialog can be handy.

Media > Change Font...

Sets the font for the text layer. If you want to change the font of all text layers you have to mark the All Layers checkbox before choosing this menu item. Don't forget to unmark this checkbox afterwards.

When BluffTitler says it can't handle a font this is most of the time caused by the fact that the font is too detailed. You could try using the flat or solid font effects (these are font effects without a bevel) or switching to a lower quality mode with the menu item Settings > Low Quality.

Media > Change EPS...

Sets the EPS file for the EPS layer.

Media > Change Texture...

Changes the texture.

Media > Change Video...

Changes the video used by the video and text layer.

Changes the model file used by the model layer.

Media > Change Effect...

Changes the effect used by the active layer.

Preset menu

Preset > Load Preset...

Loads a preset from disk. Note that a preset is not the same as a show. A show is a complete animation that can be loaded with the menu item File > Open Show.... A preset is a single keyframe of a specific layer. Note that when choosing this menu item, only the presets from the same layer type as the active layer are shown in the listbox.

Preset > Save Preset as...

Saves the current keyframe to disk.

Your preset only shows up in the Load Preset... dialog when you save your preset in one of the following folders:

  • The Media/Presets folder next to the executable (BluffTitler.exe)
  • The BluffTitler/Presets folder in your (My) Documents folder

When you're saving a text layer as a preset that is attached to another text layer your preset will appear in the Layer/Attach Border to active Layer... dialog. Presets of attached particle layers will appear in the Attach Particles to active Layer... dialog.

Low quality might look ugly, but it also means quick loading, high animation speed and great responsiviness! Low quality can also be handy for fonts or EPS files that are too detailed to display correctly in high quality mode.

Settings > Show safe Area

Old televisions do not display the complete image, but chop of a fairly amount at the borders. To make your animation completely visible on grandma's television you have to make sure it does not extent out of the safe area. When this option is turned on the safe area is displayed as a box.
