Ulli, LostBoyz and sinus300 like this!

Here are 3 ways to create fake shadows.

BluffTitler can render real shadows, but sometimes it's easier or faster to create them yourself. This article offers 3 techniques to do that.

Nice article Michiel,

In my previous experimentation, I came up with these exact results. Nothing beats "real" shadows, but this is an acceptable trade-off in certain circumstances.

How can I get the Fake Shadow more smooth?
Do I need a special FakeShadow.fx?

Thanks.

It's easy to make your real shadows smooth: use the SHADOW SOFTNESS property of the light layer.

Making your fake shadows smooth takes a lot more work. Or not, I don't know.... I think I would select the shadow text layer, press the ATTACH BORDER TO ACTIVE LAYER button, select the GLOW BLACK preset and play around with the properties.

Thank you very much, Michiel!
In the past days I have tried to edit the Clip.fx and the LightTube.fx to get a ReflectionPlane.fx on both effects.

To be honest: I didn't get the two fx's with a ReflectionPlane.fx.
I must have done something wrong ...

Do you have any idea?

Ik wens u een mooie avond en een geweldig begin van de week!

Creating FXs is not easy. Please do not get frustrated trying to edit FXs if you are not a software engineer.

If you want to learn coding FXs I advise you to google on HLSL.

Yes. I think I have to learn a bit more to be able to code FXs.
This calms me down ;-): I'm NOT a software engineer, even if I wished I was one.
But I tried programming some simple software by myself in C++ (more as a free time job).
But working in the media world, is not bad either ;-). So I'm happy!

Thanks for the tip! I'll have a second try to merge both functions into one fx ...
