chaver, LostBoyz, crispin and 8 others like this!

Immediately after the 13.5 release, you informed us that a lot of emoji were missing: ?‍? ?‍? ?️‍♀️ ?‍? ?️‍? ??‍♀️

All have been added to BluffTitler, launched today:

My favorite new one is Ninja Cat ?‍?, who happens to be a Windows only emoji:

If you think we still have forgotten your favorite emoji, let us know. Thank you!!! ? ?

Easiest way to add Ninja Cat is to:
-choose MEDIA > CHANGE TEXT...
-scroll to the right until you've found the cats section
-left click on Ninja Cat!

i have the same problem as JP with Windows 7 and icons stay no colored for me

For people using Chrome, you may insert the emoji keyboard extension and select the emojis directly in the emoji interface then copy them in the BT text window

Porque no salen en 3d como los textos

Jeep35 and Vincent, does this info help:

Persiana, the emoji fonts contain vector and bitmap info, but unfortunately they do not match. The vector version has holes where the bitmap has not and vise versa. We tried tracing the bitmaps but this does not look good because most bitmaps are pictures of 3D models. I guess what we really need is a font where every glyph is a 3D model (and not an extruded picture of a 3D model)

I do have the emoji in color but on a part of the list they are on 2 lines as displayed.
I have Windows 8.1

Michiel, i re-installed SEGOE UI EMOJI and checked settings>options>emoji font but problem stays the same as in my above post (2 lines for some icons and no color) - Window7 pro SP1
Exactly same thing if i set emoji font to EMOJI ONE in settings>options
When i set custom picture (right click in change text) color is accepted and icon displayed in 1 line only

Gracias Michiel por tus explicaciones

Great - thanks a lot, Michiel!

I had correctly chosen Segoe UI Emoji as Emoji font
I have tried with Segoe UI Symbol : in this case Emoji are in black and still on 2 lines
I have tried with EmojiOne color : in this case it's like with Segoe UI Emoji (color on 2 lines)

Vincent and Jeep35, I have just found out that the link does not offer the same Segoe UI Emoji font as the one that comes with Windows 10. The Windows 10 version is about 1.6 MB. The font must be copyrighted by Microsoft and if this is true, the only way to obtain it is to upgrade to Windows 10.

Thank you for your feedback. I am sorry for the confusion. The user guide has been updated:

I finally use the Chrome extension which works fine and where we may have a global look on all emoji's

Jeep35, 4 years ago

- Ok michiel, it's maybe the reason, but not sure because EMOJI ONE produces same problem, nevertheless i will ask to a friend of mine windows10 equiped to copy for me the font file and i will try it on my W7 computer.
Thank you for your time and work.
- JP i don't understand the link between Chrome and BT, do you mean that now emoji are displayed in on line since you have installed this extension ?
Here i noticed difference between IE and Firefox, for example emoji in this gallery are colored with Firefox but in grayscale with IE 11

The link I've given is to add the emojione 2016 extension in Chrome. Once installed, you have a small icon on right top of the Chrome window which displays all the emojis !
You click on those you want to use and you paste them in the text frame of BluffTitler. You must have selected the Segoe UI Emoji as font for the text.

Jeep35, 4 years ago

ok Jeep35, thank you, merci pour le précision.

You wrote in the user guide that Emoji rendering requires Windows 10. It's very restrictive as we can use Emoji from any Emoji related site by simple copy/paste or best, if we have Chrome, with the Emoji extension which displays all the Emojis in one window.
This works well with Windows 8 (perhaps 7 !)

You do NOT have to use the Segoe UI Emoji font in your text and scroller layers.

The beauty of the system is that you can mix your emoji with any font your like.

In this screenshot, the 3 text layers and 1 scroller layer all use the Pricedown font, as set in the MEDIA > CHANGE FONT... dialog.

The emoji are rendered with the Segoe UI Emoji font because this is set as the emoji font in the SETTINGS > OPTIONS... dialog.

So you can mix emoji with any other font in the same layer.

This works because BluffTitler knows which character is an emoji and which is not. This is also the reason it doesn't work in older Windows versions, IE and even for some emoji in the latest version of Chrome.

The 2 lines appear because many emoji are built out of other emoji. When placed directly after each other, they are rendered as a single other emoji. Technically, they are ligatures.

For example, Ninja Cat is built out of 2 emoji:

?‍ + ? = ?‍?

In browsers that do not understand this, the above line is rendered as:

?‍ + ? = ?‍ ?

The same happens on older Windows versions or if there's no font that features Ninja Cat.

michiel, 4 years ago

OK I can get Ninja Cat with Windows 8 after a copy/paste from a website

Jeep35, 4 years ago

Maybe BabelMap and BabelPad could be interesting to find ideograms as Emoji
Both are free

Jeep35, 4 years ago

That's the Segoe UI Symbol font.

Windows 10 comes with the Segoe UI Emoji font et c'est quelque chose de très different.

You can set the font that BluffTitler is using to render the emoji in the SETTINGS > Options... dialog.
