A VR 360° video has, by definition, a horizontal FOV (field of view) of 360°. A normal, flat video has a FOV of about 90°.

This means that in order for a 360° video to have the same sharpness as a normal video, its resolution has to be fourfold.

So a 360° video with the sharpness of a full HD video needs a resolution of 1920 x 4 = 7680. This is 8K!!!

I'm sure someday 8K will be a normal resolution, but now it's insane!!! So start saving for that new hardware!
