Realize that you can make the particle system more interesting by combining a few particle layers with different textures, colours, sizes, emissions,... This screenshot uses 5 particle layers, all using the Flare effect. This effect features FX HIGHLIGHT COLOUR and FX HIGHTLGHT SIZE props that allows you to colour the centre of the particle, making it extra bright!
