Some tips in case you want realism:
When you're standing in the light, the stars are invisible. Just like you can't see the stars on earth at daytime.
Shadows can help with realism: set the SHADOW INTENSITY prop of the light layer to 1.
Unless your spaceship has lights, the nearest star is the only light source. This means that the shadows are never soft. Set the LIGHTING FACTOR prop of all layers near 1. And the SHADOW SOFTNESS prop of the light layer near 0.
