Was there a setting for drop shadow on text, or do you have to have more than one layer of text and fake it?

You can use the SHADOW INSENSITY property of the light layer to generate shadows:

But that would require something to cast shadow on, plus it would affect other objects, right?

Yes. For example a picture layer can be used to accept the shadow.

Yeah, I wanted a drop shadow on the text - not on a background, and not dependent on light.

I guess i have to draw it in a paint program then.

Well, in a 3D app like BluffTitler shadows need a light and have to drop onto something.

Maybe you can make your background picture invisible by making it the same colour as your background.

I've created some texts in Photoshop with drop shadow and saved them as images with transparent background, then used the images in BT, and they look very effective.

I appreciate what you said above, Michiel, about BluffTitler being a 3d program, but would it be possible to do something with an FX to achieve a similar look for texts?

The purpose of BluffTitler is to make it easy to create effects that are difficult or not possible in other apps. Not the other way round.

That makes it sound like you think BluffTitler should ONLY include things that are not possible in other apps ... but, I'm sure that's not what you meant.

An easy way to create an effect like the one below in the image would be great to have in BT.

I showed a standard BT text above it for comparison purposes.

If you really want shadows without a background picture maybe this trick can work for you:

Thanks, Michiel.
