I am trying to only get a certain part of a template but when I hit the time and try to shrink the time it doesn't work for me am I doing something wrong?
Maybe an essential keyframe has been cut off as well. Adding a new keyframe at the cut off position can help.
Which template are you editing?

Realize that instead of cutting it in BluffTitler you could also render the full template and cut it in your video editor.
