I based this show directly on \Composition Effects\TargetO3.bt

My show is here:
dl.dropbox.com...

But if I drag the slider it plays differently!

The manusl display correctly follows the changes I made to the route and rotation of the '2008' text layer. But the normal play (and the exported file) are still wrong.

I've come across other examples of this since I posted.

How can dragging the slider ever give a different animation to when you click the Play button?

maitegras: Sorry, I'm a novice and I have no idea what you mean or what that code is supposed to be!

if you look at the link you have put dropbox above, you can see who has the same characteristics.
this occurs by placing in dropbox folder, only the BT icon.
so I can open your show, I generate a new icon on my computer and change the script by opening it with notepad.
However try this new link, bt I have compressed a winrar

@maitegras: I'm struggling here (so maybe someone else could step in) but I *think* you're saying that you have modified my file? Can you explain why please?

Re your comments about my upload and 'the BT icon', here again I'm not clear what you mean. This forum distinguishes between ARTICLES and QUESTIONS. The latter apparently do not allow attachments. So I have to upload mine and include URL links. For a BT show I assume the receiver will download the file and save it as a .BT file, in order to play it. Is that what you did?

--------------------

Anyway, to make sure my question is clear here is a comparison of all 4 results. From your show and my original.

dl.dropbox.com...

As you see, even *your* show does not give exactly the same result when dragged as when played. And mine gives a *major* difference. This seems to imply that we cannot edit a show properly.

Why does this issue arise please? Is it some sort of BUG in BT?

maitegras is right. The spline effects (BEZIER and OVERHAUSER) are only applied in playing mode (when you press the PLAY button) and not in editing mode (when you drag the timeline).

I think this article can help understanding splines:

Thanks. While that article DEFiNES Bezier and curves, like so often in the BT documentation it says nothing about why or how or when you USE it.

The idea of a spline (both the Bezier and Overhauser) is simple: to smooth your animation.

the truth that is difficult to explain, when this is not my official language.
but i will try.
Overhauser: One of my favorite tools. but knowing use is important.
Now use your imagination.
you are at kilometer (0) to the north. and wants to go 100 meters to the south.
but you must stop by the store to buy bread.
The problem is that you ditch the straight line to reach the 100 meters to the south.
right. this can be done in a smooth and harmonious.
when you start at zero, it generates a key
and when you reach the end point generates another key
now moves with the mouse, time shifter.
and when you arrive to the store of bread generate another key
in this key moves the object where you want to enter
the first key will add two more keys before they are.
and the last key two keys we add more later.
we add the two keys at first, should be the same as the first.
and last 2 keys must be the same as the last
Now select Overhauser curve and hit the play
