irina1208, liuyongcai, michiel and 4 others like this!
Free dancer from sketchfab.

The dress code is.... white!
With 2 mirrors I expect 2 mirror images. Where do the 2 others come from?

Nice

Only a mirror frame is used. There are no reflections: only 4 copies of the dancer...

Puzzling technique.
In this screenshot I have used 1 model layer and 5 mirror layers. I did not manage to mirror the model twice in the same mirror. And also not to mirror the model without a mirror layer.

The technique stems from the Sketchup render days before Fletch turned the KT renderer into the wonderfull Twilight render plugin that made reflections possible.
Before that a reflecting floor meant that you had to create 2 rooms: one real and one upside down separated by a transparent floor.
The good old days ?

Upside down does not work, you have to flip it. Only way I can think of is setting the SIZE prop to something like (1, -1, 1), but this ruins the lighting 😵😵💫😕
Why not use the mirror layer? 🤔

I was inspired by the added picture. The idea is to zoom out from the face to reveal the reflections and have the model walk out of the picture. This requires secondary reflections (reflection from reflection) which is not (yet) supported by Blufftitler I suppose...

They used mirrors because they only had 1 dancer. With computer animation we do not have this limitation: we can make as many copies as we want. So indeed, no mirrors are needed.

Hi Michiel, a mirror layer is only horizontal — is it possible to create a vertical mirror instead?
(Rotate mirror?)
Thanks.

Wow... thanks, Michiel.
I was stuck in the Stone Age—I hadn’t realized these commands existed. 🥶
