I'm not sure what principle (they are Gustav Fechner's discs) but if you rotate this disc in black and white you will see colored bands. Unfortunately, in my reproduction you will only see red. In reality in the various bands you should see red, green and blue. I think it's a light interference that creates chromaticity. I couldn't find the disc of the original experiment. I noticed that not everyone sees the colors. Do you see them?

Franco, i don't see colors.
i was thinking Newton disc was composed with various sectors (rainbow colors) and when you turn disc quickly colors look white (because white light is composed with the rainbow colors).
i must try with a show.

I think Vincent is right. It seems to me that the problem on a screen will be the strobe effect due to the refresh rate, which will break Newton's demonstration.

No, this is a special disc, watch this video: : youtu.be...

And this one: youtu.be...

When you spin the disk and stare at this illusion you may see arcs of subtle color. These are called Fechner ( from its discoverer ) colors and appear from nowhere.

When you spin the disk and Stare at this black and white wheel long enough and you may see a colors appear out of nowhere.
But incredibly, different people see different colors - and some may not see anything at all.

Franco i don't see any color during disk rotation ?!

It depends on the structure of the retina. If the rods are solicited, but it's not right or wrong. Some see them and some don't!
Unfortunately it has to rotate at a particular speed and with BluffTitler I can't rotate the disc very quickly.

The scroller layer works better. I used the following text:

|||||||| | | || | |||| |

It's probably me being dizzy, but by playing around with the POSITION and SCROLL SPEED properties I managed to see all kinds of purple and pink colours ?????

I have attached my show to this article for you to fool around with: click on the blue DOWNLOAD MEDIA FILES button at the top.
