In this show \Media\Shows\Sketch\ChristmasTree.bt I can't create it even if I copy it exactly because when I add the particle layer I don't have the option for that exact particle.
Am I doing something wrong?
What exactly is the option you are looking for? In other words: what is the difference between the original and your copy?
Some ideas:
-is your copy using the same 3 styles? (as set with the 3 dropdowns below the hidden textbox)
-is your copy using the same property values? (as set with property dropdown + its 3 sliders)
-is your copy using the same textures + effect? (as set in the <F9> dialog)
-are the particle layers attached to the same parent?

I think i got it now.
I'm not sure which particle pattern to use when first adding the layer.
