This show demonstrates 2 particle techniques useful for Christmas shows.

1) Use an invisible layer as the launching platform

When you attach a particle layer (with the menu item LAYER > ATTACH LAYER > ATTACH PARTICLES TO ACTIVE LAYER), the particles use the active layer as their launching platform. This means they are emitted from a random point on the layer.

Sometimes you do not want the launching platform to be visible. Unmarking the VISIBLE checkbox also makes all child layers invisible including the particles so that does not work.

The trick is to apply the INVISIBLE.FX effect.

In this tutorial show, an invisible sketch layer (layer 8) is used as the launching platform. Other layer types that work well are the text and picture layers.

2) Use the TURBULENCE property to create chaos

With the TURBULENCE property of the particle layer you can make the particles behave more randomly.

In this tutorial show, this is used to make the snow (layer 7) fall down in a more realistic way.

Michiel, you are something!

That's wonderful and it's the idea of the show I posted a couple of days ago.

You are always ready to help out, and teach others.

And of course MERRY CHRISTMAS AND HAPPY NEW YEAR for you and your kin.

Thank you Michiel.
